about

This was an exercise in futility that we couldn’t bring ourselves to
abandon. We were going through a disco phase and thought we’d try a Bee Gees-meets-ABBA tune. We wound up with an insane track count (nearly 400), which we mixed ourselves. It landed in a place that’s pretty far afield from the other music we’d been making, but we liked the direction so much that we wanted to explore this side of us further. The song is about standing up for yourself to confront an oppressor, and a reminder that all power is fleeting.

lyrics

Only thing
That ya know honey
Is how to give
A run for the money until
Your cover is blown

My sympathy
Your hand-me-down story
It’s a tragedy
I’m fallin right for it again
But you won’t be long

Flyin’ with your crown
‘Cause goes up comes down

So drop another time bomb
In my head
Watch until it blows
And I’m seein red
You’re gassin’ up the lights
Honey now I see
You fallin’ from your tower
Baby you’re no king
‘Cause I have found
That what goes up comes down

Dazzle me
Call me little crazy
I’m an easy mark
And you’re a little shady
Your time has come to an end

I’m takin’ off your crown
What goes up comes down

So drop another time bomb
In my head
Watch until it blows
And I’m seein red
You’re gassin’ up the lights
Honey now I see
You fallin’ from your tower
Baby you’re no king
‘Cause I have found
That what goes up comes down

Only thing
That ya know honey
Is how to give
A run for the money until

You drop another time bomb
In my head
Watch until it blows
And I’m seein' red
You’re gassin’ up the lights
Honey now I see
You fallin’ from your tower
Baby you’re no king
‘Cause I have found
That what goes up comes down

Yeah I have found
That what goes up comes do
